Emergency Earthquake Relief in Afghanistan

On Saturday, October 7, 2023, a powerful earthquake hits Afghanistan, killing at least 2,445 people and injuring nearly 10,000 more.

Over 1,300 homes have been destroyed, leaving already vulnerable families completely homeless.

The crisis in Afghanistan has already put the country at edge, with the World Food Programme saying Afghanistan is seeing “the worst humanitarian crisis on earth”, and this earthquake has added more damage to an already injured nation.

The people of Afghanistan are in desperate need. 22 million Afghans are facing food crisis or emergency. 95% of people do not have enough to eat and 1 million children are at risk of dying from malnutrition. Time is running out for many of the children, women, and elderly.
